Case 5
Urinary Incontinence in Menopause — M.P.
"I was 57 when I first met Julie, and completely at the end of my tether. I'd been diagnosed with urinary incontinence, and it had taken over my life. "
I couldn't leave the house without wearing maternity pads—and even then, I'd need to change them every few hours. A trip to the shops required planning like a military operation. Golf, which I loved, had become impossible.
I'd tried pelvic floor exercises, seen a specialist, and been offered medication with side effects I didn't want to deal with. I'd started to accept that this was just how life would be now.
After my initial consultation with Julie, I genuinely felt like there was light at the end of the tunnel. She put a treatment plan together, which involved acupuncture and daily herbs. It wasn't instant, but it was steady—fewer bathroom trips, less leaking, and slowly, I had more confidence when going out.
Within four months, I didn't need maternity pads anymore. I could go out without planning every detail and finding out where the toilets were no matter where I went.
But best of all, I could play a full round of golf without stopping to go to the bathroom once. That might sound small, but for me, it was everything. I got my life back.
Julie gave me back my freedom. Her knowledge and understanding changed everything for me, and I'll always be thankful for that.
